Our Town: Recreation is a way of life for Tahoe man
Donning his signature Goofy hat, Anthony Davis works tirelessly for local youths, including his countless hours coaching track & field. Anthony Davis, in his words, is a "reckie" with passion, and his involvement with recreation on many levels makes it a very accurate moniker. When he started college, he planned to become a secondary school teacher and coach, but switched his major to recreation. He was an active participant in track and field in high school and college.
In 1986, some friends from CSUS invited Davis to come to Tahoe to work for the summer. In 1987 he volunteer at South Tahoe Middle school with Tahoe legendary coach Austin Angell. This is when his coaching career began.
In 1994, Davis was selected as the first athletic coach at Lake Tahoe Community College in the history of the school. He coached cross-country for two seasons and won the schools first Golden Valley Conference Championship in 1995.
He also has started Anthony Davis Sports Tahoe, a track-and-field program that brings quality track-and-field meets to the South Shore. The purpose of the business is to bring events into the community to provide fitness and performance development training programs. Davis shares his expertise and passion in the sport of track and field with different organizations and school groups such as the LTCC Kids College Track & Field class, the Lake Tahoe Marathon and his favorite event , the South Shore Fourth and Fifth-Grade Track & Field Classic.
